In 2021, Charles Morel became involved in a major fight for the recognition and protection of the CBD industry in France. At the request of key players in the sector, he created and chaired the Union of CBD Professionals (UPCBD). When a government decree banned the sale of CBD flowers and resin in December 2021, he pursued a strategy of civil disobedience, encouraging stores to remain open and present a legal defense. At the same time, he filed an urgent appeal with the Council of State (référé-liberté) to challenge the measure, and in January 2022 obtained the suspension of the decree, which was ultimately overturned later that year. Thanks to this victory, the industry is sustainably protected, and the UPCBD becomes the point of contact with public authorities for matters related to CBD in France.
